PART 4: If you’re telling the truth, why did everyone abandon you, Lauren?
This is Part 4 of a Substack series (linked here)
“Tone… these bozos never even heard of the Deaf and Dumb rule. Can you believe it?”
Okidoki, it’s officially well into a new year! Enough with the old. I’m over it!
It’s time I finally wrap up this Substack series.
If you’re new here: I launched this Substack page after publishing my book This is Not Real Life, which argued that much of the right wing political ecosystem runs on drugs, money, and celebrity far more than on truth. Duh.
And just to remind the reader: I don’t say any of this with even a hint of enthusiasm, given that I devoted essentially my entire adult life to right-wing political discourse. It’s not exactly a joyful thing to realize you helped create the building blocks for… whatever the hell this is supposed to be:
(At least that ASU Frat leader came through to save the day.)
To be clear, none of this has much to do with actual right-wing or conservative political thought. If you’re wearing tweed and reading Sir Roger Scruton, please carry on.
The influencer ecosystem I once inhabited was the Chernobyl-ass Frankenstein of right-wing politics. A radioactive, reanimated corpse stitched together from clout, resentment, and cocaine, which desperately needs to be taken out back and shot for everyone’s good (it’s own included). Unfortunately, monsters are hard to kill.
When my book came out, detailing the madness, scam artistry, sex, crimes, and drugs behind the alternative right wing scene, I was promptly hit with a flurry of attempts to “debunk” it.
So, naturally I started this series to debunk the debunkings. Such is the endless melodrama of the internet.
I posted the first three installments… and then vanished for a few months. So where have I been? Why has it taken me so long to finish?
Well, I’ve been busy being a rugged anti-hero, alone against the world. Listening to Chopin in a dark room while contemplating the fallen nature of the human soul. Basically this video.
Kidding. I’ve just been busy with life. And honestly, I got a little demotivated by the general lack of interest in truth online, which forced me to remind myself that it’s still worth finishing what you start, regardless of the reception.
A major focus of this series has been the Tate brothers and my documentation supporting the allegations that they are, in fact, pimps (as they themselves have said) who operated a human-trafficking business.
The problem is that I can shout into the wind all day about the mountain of evidence, but until there’s a formal guilty verdict, the geniuses running the right-wing information ecosystem won’t entertain any of it.
And, frankly, I want to start writing about other things. So I’m posting the rest of this series today and calling it a wrap until the trials begin. When they do, I may revisit the topic.
But it’s time for me to move on to bigger and better things.
So let’s get to where we left off, question number 4: where did all my friends go? (lol)
That is an interesting question. Where are all my supporters if I’m telling the truth about what’s gone on behind the scenes in this media world? Where are all the people vouching for my character? They’ve all abandoned me!
Well first of all, I never said I was likeable. Just that I’m telling the truth.
Jokes. I do have some friends. I know, hard to believe.
Most of them aren’t eternally online these days, and those who are - well they’re in a bit of a predicament. A big predicament, really.
When you rise high enough in politics, the rules begin to resemble those of a gang. Hence the opening image of Christopher Moltisanti and the reference to the classic 1950s crime film On the Waterfront - I’m particularly referencing the “Deaf and Dumb” rule. An unwritten code enforced by corrupt unions and mob bosses, demanding silence when witness to criminal activity: see nothing, hear nothing, say nothing. To speak out is betrayal, met not always with death, but with exile. In politics, of course, the death is reputational.
No one is innocent. Everyone is human, failing in human ways, and in close political circles, everyone knows everyone else’s failures. There are text messages, videos, stories, or simply enough shared power and social capital to ensure that once you fall out of line, the group agrees to erase you.
It’s not even something that’s controversial to say within influence spheres, everyone knows it. The biggest influencers in the scene are on phone calls crying to each other about how they don’t believe half the things they say, but they can’t get out. They’ll never get a normal job again. Someone’s got something on them. Whatever it is.
Loyalty, or everything disappears.
You can see this in the fights taking place in the political sphere right now at any given moment. Candace Owens vs Dave Rubin:
“Dave, you groomed young kids!”
“Candace, you always hated Charlie!”
Half the time these accusations are based on half truths dressed up for an audience, the other half they’re just pulled out of thin air - because why not? Either way it’s all a big reputational Mexican Standoff at any given moment that has very little to do with anyone’s genuine beliefs. The real conversations are happening in private calls, not timelines.
All that is to say, I’ve received an overwhelming amount of support in private messages from countless creators and public figures. Even ones still collaborating with the Tates and the likes of Tommy. “We all know you’re telling the truth, Lauren.”
It’s been kind in its own messed up way?
This sort of behavior is also not just a result of political blackmail, but just the way the machine of popularity works in general. I’ve had colleagues call and say verbatim: “I have a chance of gaining real political power within a few years, I can’t piss (x, y, z’s) audience off yet, but I’ll have your back when I get there! You get it, right?”
I hate to say it, but I do. Not everyone is willing to strap reputational dynamite to themselves the way I’ve done in the past, and fair enough.
Have I spent an evening pacing around my house, muttering “spineless cowards” under my breath, blood boiling? Absolutely.
Have I also had to sit down, humble myself, and remember that I’m in no position to throw stones? Absolutely.
We all pick our battles. I wasn’t dragged kicking and screaming into the influencer ecosystem, I enjoyed the ride up. I’m a victim of my own decisions, largely.
Decisions to involve myself in a political space that is cooked beyond belief, warped by blackmail and golden handcuffs. Frankly, the Trump administration is no different from any other in that regard, nor is the new-media ecosystem that helped usher it into power.
In fact, for anyone paying attention, it’s becoming increasingly obvious that the very people who sell themselves as corruption-free “truth-tellers” have now found themselves trapped in one of the most culturally corrosive hostage situations we’ve seen in a long time.
Audience capture.
The fear of losing the patrons who fund the space. The terror of being targeted by the enforcers and mobs who will make their lives a living hell for “taking a side,” even when that side is simply the truth.
I recently spoke at an event hosted by an organization that brands itself as libertarian and pro-free speech. But when they later uploaded my talk to their website, I noticed they had quietly removed the sections where I criticized scam fundraising within right-wing circles.
It was a revealing choice. Apparently, “free speech” only extends as far as it doesn’t upset certain donors or create discomfort within the in-group.
The right are inventing “woke” culture all over again in their own microcosm, and they even elevated their own Romanian Epstein to keep everyone famous, complicit, and in line! It’s impressive how power always manages to do this.
The truth is, when it comes to the scam artists, human traffickers and criminals operating within the dissident sphere - public support from my previous circles won’t materialize until the rubber hits the road and the facts become utterly undeniable.
That’s the unfortunate reality.
Because from where I stand, the evidence is already overwhelming, for anyone who actually cares to look. But there’s no financial upside in this investigation for anyone on the political right. Only coordinated bot-driven smear campaigns, influencer-led character assassinations, the promise of social exile, and potentially, real-world violence. The cost of truth-telling, in this case, is high, and rising.
Follow the money, and you’ll see that many of my harshest critics since I spoke up are either on the take, complicit in the crimes I’m calling out, or don’t exist at all. Bots with no names, no faces, and nothing to lose.
The rest, defeaninglly silent. Not wanting to find themselves in the crosshairs of some of the most powerful voices in the “dissident” space.
But I digress, let’s get to the fun bit.
“Lauren, we don’t give a shit what you have to say because you’re a dumb slut!”
Part five here. ;)
